boat shoes or mocs?

Alloy calls them boat shoes, but they look just like mocs.  Can some one explain to me what's the difference between the two?  (Besides where and who they're worn by)

I think boat shoes usually have the lacing on the sides and a tie in the front like these do, whereas mocs don't.  Just a guess!

Boat shoes have a white bottom, those are the flat version of the shoes that we all have been raving over from Urban, so cute....!
